Remediation in Construction

Storm Construction Group are experts at Remediation for the Construction Industry.

Remedial works mostly involve the removal, abatement, and modification of a building’s structure to ensure that it conforms to Australian building standards. Remedial works are often a result of a construction defect or serious issue. Remediation is required for a project to meet regulatory and environmental requirements.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has stringent guidelines that assist to ensure the structure under investigation and remediation follows the process by the book in order to keep our environment and human beings safe in potentially dangerous situations.

When hazardous material, contaminated waste, sediment, surface water and groundwater are adjacent to or infiltrating a structural site, remediation experts are called upon to ensure the safe removal, cleanup, management and disposal of these wastes to render a site or structure safe and habitable.

This is where Storm Construction Group steps in. Their transparent process of Communication, Investigation, Remediation and Resolution – and the thorough steps taken to remove hazardous waste and abide by legal code requirements enforced by the EPA – ensure that upon handover, Storm Construction have executed their duties for your property to now be deemed habitable.

What is a Remediation process?

Remediation involves an all-encompassing step process of land restoration from detection, investigation, assessment, determination of remedial measure, actual clean-up, to site redevelopment.

In a house remediation stands quite apart from restoration. This term applies to the thorough removal of pollutants or other potential contaminants from various types of location, to ensure ongoing safety. For example, mould remediation is a common solution sought out to tackle mould growth for lasting results.

In construction, Remedial Action means all actions taken to (a) clean up, remove, remediate, contain, treat, monitor, assess, evaluate, or in any way address Hazardous Materials in the indoor or outdoor environment, (b) prevent or minimise a release or threatened release of Hazardous Materials so they do not migrate or endanger or threaten to endanger public health or welfare or the indoor or outdoor environment, (c) restore or reclaim natural resources or the environment, (d) perform any pre-remedial studies, investigations, or post-remedial operation and maintenance activities, or (e) conduct any other actions with respect to Hazardous Materials required by Environmental Laws.
